Through years of experience, after teaching hundreds of students we have created a course for beginners with little to no experience in AcroYoga, Yoga or Acrobatics
In this course we share what we have learned from years of trial and error. We have refined the explanation process, providing only the necessary information. We show you the common mistakes we see our students make so you can avoid them, fast-tracking your way to strong, stable, fluid movements
The course is centered around a sequence/flow: combining many basic & more difficult poses, breaking them down, mounting & dismounting them then linking them fluidly
Each class is structured as follows:
Games, dances & other fun activities to get your heart rate up at the beginning of each class. However these are not just any old games, they improve balance, coordination & timing while getting you ready for the class ahead
WARM UP
PARTNER YOGA
Drawing on her extensive Yoga knowledge & experience Laura has put 6 Yoga flows together, one for each class. These flows specifically target the parts of the body that will work the hardest. In Partner Yoga we use our body to help stretch or be stretched by one another. This unique style of Yoga is both fun and beneficial as it aids in building synchronization and coordination between you and your acro partner
ACROFIT
Dynamic exercises using your partner's body as a counterbalance, weight or stretching tool. The exercises are designed specifically to prepare you for the poses & transitions you'll be learning, while improving your strength, coordination, balance, mobility & flexibility. Many of them closely resemble the AcroYoga poses you will go on to learn, without the 'up in the air bit'. This means you'll be in the same poses, but lying or sitting, making you comfortable and familiar with the poses when you come to try for real. Once learned they can be used as part of a workout routine, not only for AcroYoga practice
ACRO YOGA
Having prepared for the static poses during the AcroFit section, you will explore dynamic entrances and exits of several basic AcroYoga poses. With clear explanations and demonstrations, crafted and refined over years of teaching, you will learn correctly, safely and quickly Our focus is on fluidity. You will learn the tools you need to transition from pose to pose, learning a sequence and turning it into a flow. Learning to mount, dismount and transition from every pose means you will be able to piece your own flow together, creating and flowing how YOU want
GUIDED THAI MASSAGE
Traditional Thai Yoga Massage has been part of our practice and a passion in our lives for years. Receiving this unique massage is in many ways passive Yoga Contrary to many other types of massage (where the masseuse may experience hand cramps or other small injuries), Thai Massage is beneficial for both the giver and the receiver. This is because whilst donating we are conscious, aware of our posture, assuming poses that are found in Yoga. The massage is performed by shifting the weight of the body over the receiver, using gravity and not our own strength to deliver pressure on the body... bliss
EXTRA: COMMON MISTAKES
We have made and seen the same mistakes pop up time and time again throughout our coaching career. We show our students these mistakes to help them understand and avoid them. After receiving such positive feedback about this from our students in our live classes we knew it was essential & have included it for you in the course
EXTRA: FLYING MASSAGE
AcroYoga has two faces: Solar & Lunar The well-known acrobatic side is defined as Solar. There is however a whole other world of therapeutic flying massage in which the flyer is suspended, stretched and massaged by the base. We love this Lunar world and are happy to share some of it with you in this course
